Note to Beta Testers

When using MailMaven, please focus on the following:

In order of priority:

1. Stability issues, data loss, performance issues, and significant issues with functionality.
2. Missing functionality - Things you could do in Mail with MailSuite installed but cannot do in MailMaven.
3. Usability - you can do something but find the steps "awkward".
4. User interface—the fine polish
5. The wish list— things to add to MailMaven after the initial release

Known Limitations

• Rules - As a result of how MailMaven implements rules, rules cannot be imported from Mail.
• You will need to recreate your rules manually in the Process tab of the MailMaven settings.
• Signatures - The migration process does not import Signatures — yet.
• As a workaround, if you are still on Ventura, you can export your signatures in Mail and import them into MailMaven - you will probably need to do some "fixing" in MailMaven.
• Sync Profile - The sync profile is not yet configured to sync application preferences. It currently only syncs tags on messages. Our goal is to be able to sync all MailMaven settings including Rules, Signatures and Templates through the Sync Profile.
• Printing - Not yet implemented
• Dark Mode - Dark mode is not implemented yet. Maven will run in light mode even if your system is set for dark.
• Localizations - MailMaven is currently only available in English.
• Perspectives windows are not yet implemented.
• Apple Script - Not implemeted yet
• The favourites tab needs work.

iCloud - App-Specific Password

If you are setting up an iCloud account in any email client besides Mail, you must create an App-Specific password through your Apple ID login at https://appleid.apple.com.

The video below outlines the process.

App-Specific Passwords for iCloud or other Apple email accounts are created from your Apple ID page at https://appleid.apple.com.

Sign in to the page using your Apple ID and password. Then select App-Specific Passwords. Click the button to generate the App-Specific Password. Enter the name of the app you want the password for; in this case, MailMaven.

You will be asked here to verify your identity using your Apple ID password. Enter your Apple ID and password, and then Apple displays your assigned App-Specific Password on the screen.

You will need to copy this password and save it somewhere safe.

THIS IS THE ONLY TIME APPLE WILL EVER SHOW YOU THE PASSWORD.

Once this window is closed, the password is irretrievable. If you forget the password or misplace where you saved it, you will have to revoke the App-Specific Password and go through the process again.

Conversation View

• The Conversation Icon indicates the number of messages in the conversation that are in your current mailbox.
• A "+" on the icon indicates that there are more messages in the conversation in a different mailbox.
• When you open the Conversation Map, you can see a count of the unread messages in the conversation and the total conversation count.
• You can now Group by Conversation from the View menu.
• Clicking on the conversation icon will expand the conversation if you Group by Conversation.
• A long click or a 2 finger scroll shows the conversation map. You can scroll it and select the message you want to bring up in the message view. You can use the Action Menu in the Message view to reply to that selected message.
• If you want the Conversation Map to remain open as you navigate it, use control+click on the icon or right-click/2-finger-click.
• If you have not "Grouped by Conversation," clicking on a message with a conversation should also highlight the other messages in that conversation in the current mailbox. You can enable Highlight Conversation in the View menu.
• Single-clicking on the Conversation Icon will open a stationary conversation map.
• A long click or a 2-finger scroll shows the conversation map as a click scroll window.
• For finger memory, right-click/2-finger-click also opens the stationary conversation map.

Search

• Access Search from the magnifying glass in the top toolbar.
• The window opens with the "Any Word" search token displaying
• Change the search context by clicking on the token to bring up the complete list
• If you want to use multiple search contexts, bring the context list up using the command with the down arrow (⌘ ⬇︎)
• The default search behaviour is to look for ANY of the terms used.
• To change the search to AND/ALL, use the command key with the plus (⌘ +) on the context token
• To exclude a term in your search - NOT - use command key with the minus (⌘ -) on the context token
• The X on the right clears the search context so you can start from scratch
• Autocomplete working for Date Received, Review Dates and Importance.

• Add autocomplete for To/From, Keywords, Projects, Flags, Read Status.Accounts, and Mailboxes.
• Add Table View
• Save as Smart Mailbox
• Save as Perferred Search
